The Canadian job market took a hit in April — and it's shaking things up in the real estate world too! 📉
With unemployment rising to 6.9%, and over 30,000 manufacturing jobs lost, especially in automotive hubs like Windsor, experts say a Bank of Canada interest rate cut on June 5 is now highly likely. That’s right — mortgage rates could be heading even lower! 🏡💸
🇺🇸 Trump’s global tariffs have slammed Canada’s export-heavy industries, especially automotive manufacturing. As jobs vanish and consumer confidence takes a hit, economists at BMO and RBC believe the economy is slowing, and the BoC may step in with a 0.25% rate cut.
🔍 Wage growth has also dropped to a 3-year low, and RBC predicts unemployment may rise above 7% later this year if trade tensions continue.
➡️ What does this mean for YOU?
If you’re thinking of buying a home, refinancing, or investing — this could be your moment. A rate cut means cheaper borrowing, more buying power, and an opportunity to get ahead of the curve before prices adjust.
As rates shift, the smartest buyers and investors are making moves. Whether you're upsizing, downsizing, or buying your first home, I'm here to help you navigate the market.
